We all want healthy, sexy hair. All hair has the potential for being beautiful, you just have to take care of it the right way. Here are 7 tips for healthy hair.
Don’t Wash Your Hair Too Much
A lot of people over-wash their hair. You should only wash your hair every day if you have really oily hair. If you can get by with skipping a day or two or three, then you should. Your hair needs its own natural oils and when you wash your hair you are stripping your hair of its natural oils. Also, using a dry shampoo in between washes can be really helpful!
Shampoo Your Scalp
When shampooing, you should really focus on your scalp and let the rest of your hair get cleansed by the shampoo running down your head. Again, your hair thrives from its natural oils, your scalp is the part that needs cleansing.
Condition Your Tips
Using conditioner on your tips will give your hair the shine and smooth quality that you desire, while not weighing down your hair by using it all over. Definitely avoid the scalp when conditioning so that your hair does not fall flat and heavy around your face.
Avoid Sulfates, Silicones, and Alcohol
When shopping for your shampoo and conditioner, look for bottles without sulfates, silicones, and alcohol. These substances dry your hair out, cause frizziness, and damage your hair.
Use Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a Godsend! It has so many uses, including repairing hair! Coconut oil makes your hair feel light, smooth, and healthy! Use it weekly to keep your hair looking healthy!
Use Heat Protecting Spray
Applying heat to your hair can certainly damage it, so you should try not to use hot tools as much as possible. If you can plan it out to let your hair air dry and avoid hot styling tools, that would be best. But, lots of women have to use hot styling tools to get the hairstyle they want…so apply a heat protector before styling! Your hair will thank you.
Eating leafy greens and healthy fats will make your hair appear younger, shiny, bouncy, and just healthy overall. Eat good to feel good all over, including hair!
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard someone say, “please don’t spend your money on expensive makeup, drugstore makeup is affordable and just as good!” Honestly, I’ve never purchased expensive non-drugstore makeup, so I couldn’t tell you this from personal experience, but I trust everyone else. Here are some common drugstore finds that you must-have, or at least must try!
Maybelline Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation
This liquid foundation is one of my favorites and has been rated by top beauty magazines as a national favorite. It does exactly what it says, it makes your pores disappear and your face appear matte, it’s just lovely.
Maybelline Fit Concealer
This concealer works wonders for dark circles under eyes, trust me. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!
Milani Baked Blush
This blush is very popular because of it’s very pigmented, dewy, glow that it leaves. Sounds perfect for achieving that young, kissed-by-the-sun look!
ELF Mineral Glow
This mineral glow is half the price of others and works just as good, leaving your skin with a beautiful, natural glow.
Maybelline Pumped Up Colossal Volume Express Mascara
Maybelline has some of the best mascaras out there, but this has been my go-to for a long time. It gives you long, full lashes and is very buildable. I like to apply a couple coats for the day, but if I’m really going for it I’ll pack on 4 coats! Just stunning.
Revlon ColorStay Just Bitten Kissable Balm
This balm is amazing! From the beautiful, bold colors to the fresh minty smell and the fact that the color stays on all day long. And it’s hydrating, just like a balm should be! I absolutely love this lip product and highly recommend.
NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray
This is a must if you want your makeup to last all day. This setting spray is super affordable and has never failed me, all hail NYX setting spray!
Again, all of this makeup is super affordable, beautiful, and gets the job done just as well as any other makeup. What are some of your favorite drugstore makeup products?
For the brides-to-be things can get very stressful. We don’t want you to have to worry about looking absolutely beautiful on your big day, so here are 9 wedding day make-up tips.
Trials If you’re hiring a make-up artist for your big day, make sure to run some trials! You don’t want there to be a big fall out on your wedding day because you and your make-up artist were not quite on the same page. Two trials is good to have before your wedding day, that way the first trial you can talk about what you like and what you don’t like. Second trial is to make sure your make-up artist understood you.
Take care of your skin One thing many women forget to do on a regular basis is taking care of their skin. It’s very important to take care of you skin in general, but especially leading up to your wedding day. On your wedding day, don’t use too many oily products, especially before priming your face.
Use Primer It’s essential to use primer on your face before any other make-up on your wedding day. Primer will even out your skin tone and provide a nice base for the rest of your make-up to last all day and all night. Just what a bride needs!
Eyebrow Pencil Using an eyebrow pencil will frame your eyes for pictures and just make them pop perfectly! It’s good to choose a shade or two lighter than your natural color so they don’t appear too dark and stand out too much on your wedding day.
Fake Lashes Wearing fake lashes on your wedding day will give you big, captivating, sexy eyes. Fake lashes are perfect for days when you are going to be taking lots of pictures, like on your wedding day J
Waterproof Mascara Waterproof mascara is a must for every bride on her wedding day! There will most likely be at least a few tears shed (of happiness, of course) and you don’t want your make-up running and ruining your beautiful face, especially before your pictures! Apply waterproof mascara to your natural eyelashes before adding fake lashes to make your natural lashes appear more full and to blend in with the fake lashes.
Keep a Make-Up Bag Close By It’s definitely a good idea to keep a make-up bag close by on your wedding day. Give it to someone you trust who will always be near when needed. Keep essentials for touch-up, like: lipstick, mascara, powder and a make-up brush.
Plan for Plenty of Time Make sure you give yourself more than enough time to get ready on your wedding day. Anything can go wrong and it’s better to be safe than sorry. (I had a little false lash issue and ran 30 minutes over time, causing the ceremony to start late!)
Life can go by so fast! Make sure you are doing these 5 things every day to stay healthy and happy!
Wash Your Face
As you get older, it becomes more and more evident that you need to take care of your skin, especially the skin on your face. The most basic, easiest way to take of your skin is to make sure you wash it every day. You probably don’t realize how often you touch your face, among all the other things you touch throughout the day. Just imagine all the dirt and germs that are clogging up your pores! So, just give it a scrub down at the end of the day.
Count Your Blessings
If you start every day on a positive note by being grateful for waking up and everything that you have, your days will be happier! At the very least you are alive and breathing and well. Hopefully you have a roof over your head, food to eat, clothes to wear, and internet connection! Just remember, everything you have came from someone else, just be grateful.
Eat Fruits and Veggies
I’ll tell you what, eating an apple a day really makes me feel great. Try to get at least one serving of fruits or veggies. Getting whole, healthy, natural foods is so important to the longevity of your health!
Drink Plenty of Water
Drink as much water as you can take! Drink it first thing in the morning, with every meal, in between meals, and before, during, and after exercising as well! Water literally gives you life. Also, sometimes when you think you’re hungry you are actually just thirsty and it can get rid of those cravings.
Tell Someone You Love Them
Love is what life is all about! Spread the love. Tell someone, anyone that you love them. I promise it will make their day and your day better.
I, like many people, don’t have cable. With Netflix and all the online streaming availability, my husband and I just didn’t think it was worth it. Our area also recently went digital, meaning you have to have a certain digital box for even the local channels. So we have absolutely no television channels at all. Therefore, with my coffee every morning, I’ve started watching Vloggers on YouTube. I’m totally hooked! You can learn so many useful things on YouTube. So, here are some of my favorites so far.
Kat’s self-description is “I’m just a 24 year old humble dog lover who happens to have a small obsession with all things beauty!” And it’s so true. I love watching Kat because she is so humble, quirky, and sweet. She always is 100% honest and upfront with you. For example, if a certain beauty product is sponsoring her video, she will let you know. But, most of the time these videos are just her personal opinions. Her popular videos include: makeup tutorials (she is so good!), Kat chats, beauty routines, and stuff like that. I love her so much! I feel like we would be friends in real life.
Carli is extremely talented with makeup. The first time I saw her without makeup, I was like WOW! She looks so different. Not in a bad way though, she’s still beautiful without makeup, just a lot younger looking and different. She has tons of helpful videos of makeup tutorials, hair tutorials, beauty routines, and health and fitness stuff. Her boyfriend is a health and fitness vlogger and sometimes they collaborate, so that’s fun to watch. She’s a pro!
I just discovered Alexandra a couple days ago and it turned into me binge-watching a ton of her videos! She has so many beauty hacks! I recently learned from her that I can get the same nail look that you go to the salon to get for WAY cheaper. I’m so excited to try it out for myself. Her channel is about makeup, hair, and just beauty hacks in general. I love all her tips!
