The Kardashians Taught Me These Valuable Business Lessons

Take San Fran…?

A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around people thinking the Kardashian’s are an unintelligent, famous for being famous, unsuccessful family.

According to Forbes, the Kardashian women made $122.5 million dollars from June 2015 to June 2016. That is one year worth of work. ONE YEAR.

Have you ever tried to make more than $2,000 in a week?

It’s pretty hard. As a freelancer writer, I would have to work extreme hours to pull off that kind of cash.

These girls just collectively averaged 2.3 million dollars per week.

It’s time to give credit where it is due. The Kardashian women are working hard and proving that despite being born into a pretty good financial situation, they still pushed the glass ceiling.

They each work on multiple projects at a time, fly around the world for business and are constantly being interviewed.

Their intense work ethic teaches me three valuable business lessons:

  1. It is time to master the art of multitasking. Kim reportedly made $300 million dollars off of her mobile game. One year later, while the game was still a highly coveted app, she launched her personal app. Behind the scenes she’s an executive producer on KUWTK as well as an active character on the show. On top of this, she has perfumes, make up lines, collaborations with her sisters and more secret projects that we haven’t even heard of. And, let’s not forget-she’s a mom of two. Now, if only we could get our hands on her planner to see how in the hell she organizes her life.
  2. It’s okay to be inconvenienced. As a full-time world traveler, I can be the first to say that trying to work while consistently traveling is hard. Really hard. These girls are on planes at least three times in a month. This fast paced, jet lagged lifestyle is not convenient, yet they still do it because it is good business. They meet with business executives, fashion designers, tech giants and more proving that embracing inconvenience reaps major benefits.
  3. To be well known, you have to be seen. Working your way up the corporate ladder? The CEO of your company needs to know you exist. Take note from the Kardashian clan-get yourself seen. Put yourself in front of the people that can change your life for the better because that’s the only way they are going to know that you are worthy of that change. Looking for a promotion? Put yourself in front of the person who is in charge of promotions, showing how valuable you are, that keeping you around is socially enjoyable and that you are a reliant member of the team.

There’s a lot to be learned from a family that made more in one year than most do in a lifetime.

The largest lesson of all?

You reap what you sow.

The harder you work, the greater the benefits. The more open you are to learning new skills, saying yes when it would be easier to say no and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and talking to important people-the higher your chances of immense success.

By acquiring this work ethic, maybe one day that two million dollar check will have your name on it.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that celebrities are just people like us, they go shopping like us, they get drunk like us and they say stupid things without thinking like a lot of us mere mortals tend to do. Here are some of the most hilarious and awkward things celebrities have come out with.

Willow & Jaden Smith

The Impossibly cool children of Will and Jada Smith told T Magazine their thoughts on time and space or rather lack there of.

“Willow: I mean, time for me, I can make it go slow or fast, however I please, and that’s how I know it doesn’t exist.

Jaden: It’s proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It’s relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year. And if you are unaware, your whole childhood, your whole life can pass by in six seconds. But it’s also such a thing that you can get lost in.

W: Because living.

J: Right, because you have to live. There’s a theoretical physicist inside all of our minds, and you can talk and talk, but it’s living.

W: It’s the action of it.”

How To Make Any Man Want You

3 Must Watch Documentaries on Netflix for Fashion Lovers

Fashion is a timeless and cyclical form of art. Anyone can match and look decent, but you have to have a certain eye to have real style. Everyone has to wear clothes, so you might as well be stylish while doing it, right? Well these documentaries will show you that many others think so as well.

Bill Cunningham: New York

Bill is a street photographer, best known for his work in The New York Times Magazine. He had a modest up bringing; with his love of fashion starting as a young child when he noticed the hats women wore to church. Bill is highly respected in the fashion industry for having a great eye and knowing what is “in” at that particular time. In the documentary he says, “Fashion is the armor to face the reality of everyday life.” He cares for the clothes, the color, the cut— not the fame or lack of, of the person wearing it. Bill merely wants to document the evolution of everyday style, whether in the street or charity galas.

Fashion legend, Iris Apfel, is known for her tremendous collection of clothes (she has apartments dedicated to just clothing) and note-worthy style. She says she has “no rules” for her style, and what she wears. Iris is a fashion innovator, not scared to do different things and stand out. The documentary tells of how she has been collecting and haggling with sellers since she was young.

Iris is a businesswoman, interior designer, and most importantly a fashion icon, always wearing her trademark big round sunglasses. This documentary takes you through the extraordinary life of a true maverick.

Advanced Style

Ari Cohen Seth created this documentary, influenced from his blog Advanced Style, showing the glamorous fashion and style of women over 50 years old. This documentary proves that with age, things can get better. Following the lives of seven stylish women, you see how nothing deters the women from getting up everyday and indulging in their true passion: fashion. Proving that glamour and old age aren’t mutually exclusive, these women take to the street to showcase their unique style.

If you like fashion or true style you will love and respect these documentaries. Fashion can mean anything, as long as you believe in yourself and take risks. And don’t worry, fashion is ever evolving, so if that hat you love so much isn’t cool right now, if you keep it around, it might just be cool again in a few years.
