If you were sleeping in (like the rest of us) early Sunday morning and missed out on the Grand Final of Eurovision, then pop the kettle on and get searching for a re-run.

This year Sweden hosted the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, showcasing the wonderful talents of singers and array of songs from forty two countries, including an entrant of our very own, the highly talented Dami Im.

We all came to know the lovely Dami in 2013 when she sang her way to success taking out the win for ‘X factor’, so fans were incredibly excited to hear that she would be the one to represent Australia for Eurovision this year which has an estimated audience of 180 million people (no pressure at all Dami).

With her sparkling frock and perfectly tuned pipes, Dami stunned the crowd and viewers around the world with her song called ‘Sound of Silence’ which saw her fly through the Semi Finals and onto the Grand Final stage. The excitement grew for all watching on as she continued to sit at the top of the leader board after the jury votes were in, however after a reshuffling of numbers to include televotes, she was pipped at the post by Jamala from the Ukraine with her song ‘1944’.

What an amazing achievement, and more so because this is only Australia’s second year running in the Eurovision contest. Guy Sebastian was our first ever entrant in 2015 who incredibly placed 5th, and now with Dami proudly taking out the number 2 position this year…it leaves us wondering, who will be next years entrant and can we take out the win next year?
