What makes weird videos go viral?
It’s hard to say exactly what the criteria is to make a video go viral, I think it has to do a lot with luck. But it’s probably either about a child, or evokes some type of strong emotion: like humor (don’t we all love a good laugh?), sadness, or wonder.

Take the “Damn, Daniel” video for example. If you haven’t seen it, what have you been doing? It’s so damn funny! But…it’s hard to say why. Is it really because Daniel is back at it again with the white vans? On the Ellen DeGeneres show, Daniel said that he realized his friend’s (Josh) snapchats were popular when he went to the mall and was asked for about 10-15 pictures. The next day he went to a swim meet and was asked for about 30-40 pictures. When people asked Daniel for his pictures, they also asked him to facetime his friend Josh so that they could hear his voice. So, maybe it was the voice in the video that makes it so funny.

We dare you to watch this video and not laugh!

What about DJ Khaled and his famous snapchats? He often snapchats random things with weird sayings, that for some reason resonate with people. Like, the key to life is cocoa butter. I hardly believe that the key to life is cocoa butter. Cocoa butter can be the key to soft, smooth, nice-smelling skin, but not the key to life. Maybe it’s the far-fetched statements that are funny and just stick with people.

Who are they? Who knows? Regardless it’s still hilarious!

Or what about David after the dentist? Charlie bit my finger? The homeless man with the golden voice? The list goes on and on. But the point is, with a little bit of luck and whole lot of humor, wonder, sadness, or children….you may get a viral video.
